Manning Pynn

Manning Pynn has spent more than 40 years in journalism, beginning as a copyboy at The Orlando Sentinel in the 1960s and retiring recently as that newspaper’s public editor. In between, he was a reporter and editor at The Tampa Tribune and at The Miami Herald, directing local, state, national, foreign and business newsgathering and, for eight years, chairing the Sentinel’s editorial board. As public editor, Pynn was an officer and board member of the international Organization of News Ombudsmen. He is a native of Massachusetts but grew up in Central Florida. He has a degree in political science from the University of South Florida and now teaches journalism ethics at the University of Central Florida. Pynn and his wife have a daughter and son and live in Maitland.
